The "Coach" John Kentera has solidified his name as a local leader amongst the sports enthusiast.

He's been an icon for his alma mater, Torrey Pines High School, having both played and coached basketball, baseball and football along with coaching the girls softball team.

He's been a mentor to hundreds of student athletes guiding their careers in many ways including placing over 100 students at the college level and having 37 players drafted or sign professional baseball contracts.

His love of sports has taken Coach to Torrey Pines, Mira Costa College, Southwestern College and Texas Tech. His duties included coaching baseball and as the recruiting coordinator at the college level.

The Coach is a leader amongst the high school coaches, students and parents with his number-one rated high school sports show every Friday night during the football season. The Coach has been a long-time announcer for San Diego State Aztec football and basketball teams, the voice for the CIF football and basketball finals as well as hosting a Chargers post-game show and Padres Talk with former CY Young award winner Randy Jones.

Coach John Kentera is a dedicated family man who finds time for everyone, a quality not often seen in our world today.

Matt Bassin

Matt Bassin got his start in radio in 2005 in Santa Barbara at KSZB AM-1290, before moving to XX1090 in Nov. of 2007. Matt has gained experience doing sports updates as well as being an on-air personality, running his own sports talk-show for a year in Santa Barbara. He has aspirations of being a nationally recognized voice, as well as hosting a sports television show someday. He is a 2005 graduate from the University of Arizona with a degree in Journalism. His passion for sports and talking about it has never and will never waiver.
